A New Year to Remember – Our First Wedding Invitation

In the beginning : where it all started - check out what we did!

Our wedding: an honest insight into our special day which eventually led to me opening Request a Guest in Whitley Bay in 2019.  I had a degree in design and a background in printing; I knew what we wanted but couldn’t find suppliers to help. So, between myself and Joanne, we created the stationery and decor.

The brief:

Accent Colour: Mint Green

Style: Quirky and fun

Tone: Casual, elegant and feels like a celebration

Requirements: To make it personal

Background: Joanne has a cupboard full of board games which she regularly enjoys with friends and a love of literature. I love design, illustration and all things creative. When I asked Joanne to marry me, I did what I knew how to - I illustrated a book of our journey together so far!

Our ideas:

Style: The initial influence was taken from the board game ‘The Game of Life’. This personified us and we could share our journey to the altar as part of the invitation. With the 'on-the-day stationery' we adapted an art deco style after watching ‘The Great Gatsby' to fit in with our ideas and colour palette. We felt this defined an elegant celebration and would create an experience fitting of a party for New Years' Eve.

A little background:

We have worked with many different couples over the years to help tell their story and create stationery which embodies either their personalities and style of wedding or even both sometimes! When we meet new couples for the first time, we often ask about how they met, find out about personality traits, share stories and ideas for the special day as this can help influence the styling for their invitation.

Speak to us about booking in your appointment and find out how we can help tell your story.
